No China Diet: A recent news summary

Let's see how China has decided to handle the recent outbreak in poisonous exported products:

1. Executed the head of food safety for corruption charges.

2. Banned diethylene glycol in toothpaste. I'm a little frightened that it wasn't already banned.

3. Shut down an organization that monitors safety and environmental issues.

So the next time you hear the argument that capitalism in China leads to democracy, ask how exactly a culture of corruption, prompt executions for non-violent crimes, and banning watchdog groups is democracy. At least poisons are banned. Sort of.
